happy halloween!

How far along? 31 weeks!

Maternity clothes? yes

Sleep: still good, waking up more at night, and OHHHH the restless legs and arms.

Best moment this week: more room organizing and making it through the last big work event of the year ... things feel a bit more relaxed now and we can REALLY get ready for him!

Miss anything? yeah... i would really enjoy an adult beverage. an entire glass, not just a sip. ;)

Movement: oh yes, he's a busy body

Food cravings: no real cravings right now

Anything making you queasy or sick: nothing major. one day this week at work they had spaghetti for lunch and the smell was nauseating

Gender: boy

Labor signs: some braxton hicks. nothing excessive or extensive.

Symptoms: still all of these >>> growing heavy belly, sore back, sore hips, waddling, restless legs and arms, the usual!

Happy or moody most of the time: pretty happy

Blood sugar: still doing well and holding steady!

Sleep: still good

Best moment this week: moving all his furniture in his room, getting all the final details done so we can really get it ready (washing clothes, putting things in drawers/the closet, etc.)

Miss anything? my husband and i went out to lunch this weekend and i had the sudden urge for an alcoholic beverage.

Movement: oh yes, he's a busy body

29 weeks

How far along? 29 weeks

Maternity clothes? yes

Sleep: pretty good this week... once i fall asleep ;)

Best moment this week: there's real floor in his room! and his crib is set up, WOO!  ...and, all of my OB appointments are set up from now until he's due! EEP! (and i get an ultrasound every time!)

Miss anything? the same things as always... a bloody mary, maker's and diet, runny eggs.

Movement: so much moving! and as he's getting bigger and filling up my uterus, it's like i feel EVERY movement he makes. he would like to make himself comfortable under my right rib cage but he is probably disappointed when i try to direct him otherwise. (that chalkboard is no lie. it's already tight quarters in there.)

Food cravings: nothing really. actually, nothing has sounded especially delicious. i haven't really had one of those EAT ALL THE FOODS pregnancies. there have only been a few days that i've been hungry all day no matter what i ate, but those have been few and far between.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nothing really, hope it stays that way!

Gender: BOY! (should i just leave this question? i mean, the answer isn't going to change. we've confirmed that at least 3 times.)

Labor signs: i have felt some of my first braxton hicks. nothing excessive or extensive.

Symptoms: all. of these >>> growing heavy belly, sore back, sore hips, waddling, restless legs at night, the usual!

Belly button in or out? in ... but it's definitely getting flat

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: pretty happy

Blood sugar: pretty good! side story: at my monthly appt with dr awesome last week, my blood sugar dropped. to make it more dramatic, my glucose tablets were on my desk at work instead of in my purse because i had taken them out to use them. sigh. so first i got glucose tablets from his medical assistant. i told him i was dropping and he asked if i felt okay and i did. well after talking to him for 10 minutes, i still felt pretty crummy so i checked my blood sugar and it was 35. AWESOME. he got me some juice and told me to wait til i felt okay to leave because i was his last patient of the day. i let a little time pass, checked again and i was 94. shew. it's like the best and worst place to be low. worst because you feel dumb that you're that low but best because you know they have stuff to help you out and will make sure you're okay. geez. let's hope that doesn't happen again. (we confirmed/blamed the low on the insulin i had for my special treat ghostbuster donut and the delay in delivery because of the fat content. yay)

Looking forward to: finishing up the nursery and moving all of his stuff from random places in the house to his room! :) it's definitely weird to walk by and see a crib set up in our house ...but weird in a great way!

Miss anything? a bloody mary, maker's and diet ... still missing those eggs.

Movement: so much moving!

Food cravings: white cake with whipped icing!! :) otherwise nothing really crazy, but i have been wanting to chew ice a lot lately. don't worry, they're checking my iron tomorrow, cuz that's my first thought ;)

Anything making you queasy or sick: randomly smells will bother me and this week i've randomly felt nauseous for no reason. just caused by nothing out of nowhere.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: still a little too early for this question.

Symptoms: all of these >>> growing belly, sore back, sore hips, waddling, restless legs at night, the usual!

Belly button in or out? in ... but it's getting pretty flat!

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: been pretty happy the past few weeks!

Blood sugar: dr. awesome increased my insulin a bit this week, i need it for sure. it wasn't crazy high but higher than we'd like  ... third trimester craziness for real - SO. MUCH. INSULIN. but since he made some adjustments to both my basals and insulin:carb ratios, my numbers have been SO awesome!

Looking forward to: putting the nursery together! his floor will be installed on friday! YAY! FINALLY! then we can put all his stuff sitting around our house in his room! and the baby shower is in just a few weeks, i'm excited to see my family and friends :)

thoughts on this birthday eve.

i'm not usually a sappy blogger. well, i'm not usually a sappy/overly emotional person. but, let's be real, pregnancy hormones. this one is semi-sappy.

tomorrow's my birthday.

my thirties have been pretty great so far. i got married to a wonderful man,

and now we're having a baby.

on my next birthday, i'll have an almost-10-month-old. it's hard to wrap my brain around.

for me, pregnancy has been sort of this surreal experience. i've dreamed of being a mom for my 30+ years, and it's finally happening. i watch my belly get bigger, i feel him moving. we're preparing our house, his room, etc... it physically feels real, but i don't think it's going to hit me until he's born. see also = pile of teary mush. if i stop and let myself envision his arrival, my husband and i meeting him for the first time, my family and friends meeting him for the first time, i feel the tears welling up. of COURSE it's an emotional thing!

the path to parenthood isn't always a clear and straight one. for some it is, easy and right to the point, but not everyone. i've watched family and friends add to their families, and i continue to see others along their journey to become parents. it's a hard one - for lots of people. whether it's you or someone you know and love, it can be painful. but then again, it's also joyful! to be at the point where it's happening for us is amazing and something i'm so grateful for. and i am compassionate towards those who are waiting to get to this point.

i joke on social media and with friends about the crappy parts of pregnancy and the stupid things that people say to pregnant women (i mean, it's true.), but newsflash: that's what pregnant women do. just because we're having a moment affected by hormones out of our control doesn't mean we're clueless and miserable and need to be educated by others who have deemed themselves experts. give a pregnant woman (or a new mom) a break. be happy for her. or maybe just have some empathy. you have no idea what she's been through to get to where she is at that moment. don't become an educator on the spot. i promise she's heard what you're going to say, and doesn't want to hear it again. ...i also promise i'm not the first person to ever write these thoughts on the internet.

but all those things aside, i really feel (here comes a word i never use that i think people overuse WAY too much) blessed. thank god for the miracle of pregnancy, science, technology, doctors, medicine and everything else that gets all women through pregnancy to motherhood - and i'm especially grateful for dr awesome and his team for keeping such a close eye on me and my blood sugar and thyroid levels.

with all the crap that goes on, the depressing news on tv each day and everything people complain about on a daily basis, i know we're about to begin an awesome life-changing event.

and i can't wait.
