twinpack: 17 weeks

How far along? 17 weeks (compare to 17 weeks with my son here)

Maternity clothes? yes

Stretch marks? nope

Sleep: eh. i wake up approximately 916 times a night and flop around about twice that many.

Best moment this week: anything involving being with our son is always the highlight of my week. also finding out the babies' genders!

Miss anything? not really right now

Movement: little ones here and there

Food cravings: still similar to my last pregnancy, when i see or hear about something and it sounds really delicious, i have to get it soon because i can't stop thinking about it.

Anything making you queasy or sick: just strong smells make me feel kind of queasy. like foods with a strong aroma, too much perfume/cologne, cleaning supplies, etc.

Genders: a boy and a girl!

Labor signs: it's way too early for this question

Symptoms: a growing belly and babies, growing pains

Differences at this point between your singleton pregnancy and twin pregnancy: physical discomfort and getting tired easily.

Belly button in or out? in

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: depends on who you ask ;)

Blood sugar: this week had some ups and downs, but my endo has made some changes that i think have helped today!

Looking forward to: planning everything for the new house now that we know what the babies are, moving, picking names, everything that comes along with getting ready for new additions!

pregnancy + diabetes + eye things.

on tuesday i had a spot in my vision of my left eye ... the best way i know to describe it is the spot that stays in your vision after a camera flash goes off. except mine is sort of a flattened out u-shape, like someone drew it with a thick marker. it hangs out in the lower right inside line of vision, no matter where i look, there it is.

i let it go on tuesday, wondering if there was something in my eye, if it was just a random thing that would go away, etc. but by tuesday night, it was still there so my double-hormone pregnancy brain decided to take over and FREAK OUT about diabetes complications and pregnancy complications and OHMYGODIAMGOINGBLIND. i remembered that kerri had some eye things going on during her first pregnancy, so i consulted with her and got her professional opinion/had her tell me i wasn't going blind.

not my eye - found via google search

i called the eye doctor wednesday morning. i went to an appointment that afternoon, and saw a doctor in the practice i hadn't seen before. a lovely woman, who, of course, has twin three year old daughters. so she gave me her twin tips, etc, and said she saw what looked like deposits just outside my retina that were interfering with my vision and that explained the line i was seeing. just to be safe, she wanted me to see the retina specialist before i left.

[sidenote, my favorite part ... 'she can see you right now!' ... and i saw the second doctor 50 minutes later.]

they had only dilated my left eye when i saw the first doctor, but then the retina specialist wanted to see both eyes dilated so then my vision was really wonky since they were dilated at different times.

i got a scan of my eyes, and the second doctor (who was pregnant and also so nice) tried to blind me with her lights and extra light shining through glass, etc. she asked me to re-explain for the fourth time at that office what i was seeing, and she read over what the first doctor said.

then, she became my best friend when she said 'well, i see no evidence of diabetes at all in either of your eyes. they look great and i do see a spot where you are seeing a change in your vision, but it just looks like a little white bump and i think it's probably from changes during your pregnancy and it will likely get smaller and go away on its own. i just want to follow up in about a month'

i almost hugged her.

thinking about the possibility of diabetes complications is scary. add in a twin pregnancy, and it's even scarier. i'm beyond thrilled that it's nothing ... even though i still see the spot today and it's so annoying and i wish it would just GO AWAY already ... but i'm glad that i decided to get it checked out, even if just to put my mind at ease.

PSA: if something feels weird, follow your gut.

twinpack: 16 weeks

How far along? 16 weeks (compare to 16 weeks with my son here)

Maternity clothes? yes

Stretch marks? nope

Sleep: pretty good, i am really tired by the time 9 or 9:30 rolls around.

Best moment this week: being outside with our 15 month old, it's pretty much his favorite thing EVER.

Miss anything? i have randomly wanted a beer. and it's only because i can't have one, because i never drink or want beer.

Movement: little ones here and there

Food cravings: bagels with 16 inches of cream cheese. baked potatoes. ... still similar to my last pregnancy, when i see or hear about something and it sounds really delicious, i have to get it soon because i can't stop thinking about it.

Anything making you queasy or sick: just strong smells make me feel kind of queasy. like foods with a strong aroma, too much perfume/cologne, cleaning supplies, etc.

Gender: WE FIND OUT A WEEK FROM TODAY!

Labor signs: it's way too early for this question

Symptoms: a growing belly and babies

Differences at this point between your singleton pregnancy and twin pregnancy: the hip/leg pain that i talked about last week is the biggest difference. and getting tired so easily just from walking.

Belly button in or out? in

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: depends on who you ask ;)

Blood sugar: pretty good this week!

Looking forward to: knowing what these babies are and getting moved into our new house in just about a month!

twinpack: 15 weeks

i'm guest posting for kerri over at sixuntilme today - check it out! if you found your way here from her blog, welcome! :)

babies,

i realize i didn't start answering these questions as early on in my pregnancy as i did with your brother. being pregnant (with two of you) is a lot different the second time around when you're chasing a toddler and growing humans! don't get snippy with him about it. and don't be bragging, bro. from here on out i'm keep up with what happens until your arrival!

How far along? 15 weeks (compare to 15 weeks with my son here)

Maternity clothes? gosh yes, for weeks now.

Stretch marks? nope

Sleep: pretty good, my almost-15-month-old is my alarm clock at just the right time each morning.

Best moment this week: my mom and are checking out some big kid's consignment sales, which are great when you're expecting two and have one who is quickly growing!

Miss anything? not especially

Movement: my friends who have twins told me i may feel movement earlier, and i was skeptical, but i think for a week or so i've been feeling some movement here and there. :) it doesn't feel like two babies - yet.

Food cravings: nothing in particular... kind of similar to my last pregnancy, when i see or hear about something and it sounds really delicious, i have to get it soon because i can't stop thinking about it.

Anything making you queasy or sick: just strong smells make me feel kind of queasy. like foods with a strong aroma, too much perfume/cologne, cleaning supplies, etc.

Gender: we'll find out on march 25!

Labor signs: it's way too early for this question

Symptoms: a growing belly and babies

Differences at this point between your singleton pregnancy and twin pregnancy: they're pretty similar at this point except for the hip issues and pain in my left leg that starts up around my hips and radiates down my left leg to about my knee. i've been to the chiropractor, i stretch, i put ice on it every night ... not a lot helps. sitting and standing make it worse which is pretty much what i do on a daily basis. i feel fine when i wake up every day, but after a few hours... not so much. i also run out of breath very easily. i noticed this from the start, even before we knew i was having twins. i kept wondering, WHY am i so exhausted after carrying my son up a flight of stairs? this is ridiculous! ...now i know why.

Belly button in or out? in

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or moody most of the time: depends on who you ask ;)

Blood sugar: pretty good, we're checking out what's happening during the night since i woke up with numbers higher than we'd like to see a couple times this week, but the majority of the time things look pretty good. i've had my dexcom off the past few days but it's time to get a new one put on.

Looking forward to: knowing what these babies are and getting moved into our new house (which is a blog post for another time, we're building a house - which was already going up when we got pregnant, and yes we have enough bedrooms)!
