a quick dexcom question

ok friends in the DOC, i'm just having a little anxiety about my borrowed dexcom - i'm REALLY excited to wear it and use it, but i'm just a little nervous about putting the sensor in and having it not work. :P

i want to wear it in the back of my right arm at the top, i'm just worried it won't work right or something. i've done some googling and saw kerri's post about this subject, and found some other discussions on different forums, i think i just need some reassurance. can anyone give me some tips?

(this is me being a worrywart and needing some reassurance from those who have experience.)

i know, i can do this. :) (with a little help from my friends)

  1. When I put mine on my arm, the readings were thisclose to the meter readings from the moment I started it. I did have one site that wasn't as great, but after a few days it did even out. I'm a belly sleeper, so I usually end up sticking the receiver under my pillow right next to my arm. I like it the most when it's on the upper back part of my arm. I taught my husband how to insert it, but so far I've been able to get it in on my own.

  2. We place sensors on the back of my son's arm all the time. We've never had any problems with arm sites.

For us, Dexcom was very intimidating at first, because like you, we just wanted it to work. We pay out of pocket for the sensors, and the thought of blowing $70 by messing up a sensor was too much! But, honestly, it's super easy to insert and use, and we've never had a problem...until my son jumped into the pool with the receiver in his pocket last week! ;)

I can't think of any tips to share. It's really been *that* easy and problem-free. However, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me: diabetestales@gmail.com. I'm happy to help!

    Good luck!

  3. Wish I could help! I'm also a wuss, and have never tried an arm site. ;)

  4. I started using arm sites about 4 sensors ago and I will not go back to belly sites unless I absolutely have to. I can't believe how much more accurate the arm site readings are vs. the belly site. I use my upper arm, either the side or back. The side works best for me because I will occasionally forget it's on the back and whack the site when shutting the car door which hurts a smidge.
